Just finished installing mine with the 4KW radome.
I can't give you much feedback on it yet as I'm still waiting for the Navionics card (due out the end of this month, the map only zooms into 32 nautical miles without it) and the boat's still on stands in my yard so I can't play with the radar yet either..........But it sure looks pretty!!! LOL
It does give out a bit of a hum when turned on (from the hard drive I guess) and it was a pain to install with all the interfacing. A lot of cutting of wires and a terminal board involved to hook up the heading sensor (for overlay) and radar. Not the simple plug and play like I expected. The radar is actually the same unit that goes with the 958, made by Koden.
I'll report back when the "boat's afloat" and I have a little more hands on experience..If it preforms as well as my last Northstar (951) I'm sure I'll be pleased.

I was told that the Northstar 6000i isn't really a Northstar. I was wondering because it doesnt' look like a typical Northstar product. It looks cheaper. I was told that Navman, which is owned by Brunswick (ie. Mercury), which explains why the unit looks so different from other Northstar products. Bummer !

Eric, I don't where you got that information but I seriously doubt it's accuracy. The 6000i shares many of the characteristics of my previous 951 but with more capabilities such as the ones found in the 958. It gives me no indication of anything I'd consider to be a "cheaper" unit and certainly promises to act like a Northstar with it's instant redraw.
I opted not to get the integrated "black box" (probably should of as it would of qualified me for another $400.00 rebate) but just today finished interfacing it with my 600l. It's kinda nice. I can get depth, temp, and speed through water, displayed at the bottom of the 6000i's screen. The funny part was niether Northstar's or Furono's tech. support could tell me if this would work. We hooked it up to the Aux. NMEA port (there are two other ports as well) and VIOLA!
The heading sensor and radar overlay work too!
Although hard to appreciate without the Navionics card and the boat still on hard ground.
You can even hook a video camera up to it, weather it be an underwater camera or just an overhead cam to keep an eye on the cockpit for knock downs and such...I think I'm gonna like my new toy..
I'll try and fill you guys in more as I learn more...John
