Default Simrad AP11 Repair / Replace

I have a Simrad autopilot system that is about 17 years old. It has always worked great, but lately the left-most button has stopped working. Can I replace the board? Any suggestions?
thanks!

As far as I know those old Simrad units are not repairable at least not by Simrad. You might be able to find a used unit on eBay.

I have old Simrad equipment also but know that I be replacing it all some day.

Suggest you check with Max Marine Electronics ( https://maxmarineelectronics.com/repair-center/ ) and /or MEOB.com to check on repair potential for that unit.

Used AP11 units often show up on ebay ( one sold there 10 days ago) and sometimes here at THT in the Parts classifieds.

Default AP11 replacement

thanks for the info

in the event that I need to replace the control unit, any advice on what could take it's place? I see AP 22, 24, etc.

I have the compass and a feedback for outboard engines, it is tied to my Raymarine chartplotter using NMEA 0183.

thanks

joe

Common problem on the AP11, the electrical contacts for the buttons get dirty. Very easy fix. Max should have no problem fixing it.

I appreciate the kind words. Yes, the contacts can be cleaned, we do perform the service, is isn't cheap, and is more of a band-aid than a permanent solution. I've done this to dozens of AP11's and had some that are good for years, others that come back a month later with the same issue. Just being completely honest here.
