Default Lowrance Point-1 AP issue

I have the following system installed on the boat, Lowance HDS12 Carbon and the Lowrance outboard autopilot which contains the NAC1 and the Point-1 AP. I am having a problem with the Heading data. The first question I have is there is nothing in the manual about how to adjust the heading offset on the point-1 to get it adjusted to a reference heading (I am using the wet compass on the boat as the reference). I be lieve this is required because when it is mounted you will need an offset due to the mechanical mounting. I see where you do the calibration to get the deviation adjustment.
When I run the boat I can not get the COG to agree with the point-1 AP heading data. The COG does agree with the wet compass when I am running a straight line.
It is my understanding the Point-1 AP should only be used for heading information and for navigation and position information you should use the HDS Carbon internal GPS.
What is the difference between the Point-1 and the Point-1 AP?

Thanks

There should be a way to set the heading offset. Also there is a front to the unit which should make it close. But that does 't mater if you can find the offset setting.

Also, make sure you are switching the GPS settings to magnetic north for the calibration process with the wet compass. Most are set up to show true north.

Have you check to make sure there is no interference with the Point-1 antenna. I would set your unit to Heading up and see what that does for you. COG will be less accurate than the Heading up as long as you compass is calibrated correctly and has little to no interference. The Point-1 should line up with your fluid compass or at least be very close to the same. Use the Point-1 as a heading source, and then change your data bar and map orientation to read Heading Up. To confirm the Point-1 is selected as a source go into your settings page under Communications and Sources. Then make sure the Heading has the Point-1 selected as its source.

I will be relocating the Point-1 AP on Thursday to see if that resolves the problem.
