With an internal antenna, WAAS.
Would like it small as limited space, would have to be mounted on a bracket (not flush)Prefer color.

If you plan on watching the FF while navigating, I wouldn’t recommend a small screen combo unit. There just isn’t enough room to see the channels, where the boat is, and a large enough map to gain your bearings in the split screen mode.
That’s my opinion.

There are many manufactures that make small combo units. I never see much in the flats with my FF. In shallow water, I think the fish move when you run over them. Maybe something with some forward or side view would be good. I would ask around in your area and see what the other flat operators are using.

It is nice to continually know the depth. With a combo unit you can put the digital depth readout on the GPS screen when viewing the full GPS screen. This makes all your important information in one place when navigating.

I thought a garmin 182 with a gsd20 would work for you but then I saw you need color. Unfortuantely, the 182c has an external antenna so that misses the mark. I have been looking at a lot of ff and plotters and I cant remember ever seeing color/internal ant/ff/plotter in the same package. Of course, I could be wrong.

I just bought a 182c with internal antenna and the gsd20. The 188 is not offered with internal antenna so I went with the 182c.

DN, Check out http://www.conumersmarine.com/ then click on the combo units button. Several color units to choose from at different price ranges.

Haven't got a combo unit to be able to advice, sorry. Although, choppy waters, small screen size and split in half; to small for my money and liking.IMHO

Once bitten, twice shy

Thanks to all.
Actually, I don't use the FF for spotting fish...just for depth and spotting bait pods around markers and under bridges. This would be done at slow speed and would have the FF on full screen these times.(I know bait are fish too! :-)

Mostly I'd have the full screen plotter on, maybe with depth and speed at the top if this can be done.

I currently have just a FF...which is only used to see bait and for depth.

I found the 182c on the internet for 849.99 and west marine matched the price and gave me a 10% discount because I signed up for their credit card. So basically I ended up getting the 182c and the GSD20 for the same price as most people buy the 182c alone for. Just wanted to pass along the tip.
