Default MMSI Handheld VHF

I picked up a new handheld vhf that has GPS and a DSC button. The radio on my boat does not have DSC. It dates back to 2002. I have a quick question... If someone activates their DSC will their coordinates appear on my handheld? Mine is registered. I inputted the MMSI # that I got from the USPS.

If you have a VHF Marine Band radio with DSC, and some other vessel sends a DISTRESS ALERT CALL, and that DISTRESS ALERT CALL includes a vessel position, and if your DSC radio receives the call, then your DSC radio should have received the position contained in the distress alert.

DISTRESS ALERT calls are ALL SHIPS calls, and any DSC radio will respond to the call.
