Default Audio System (Wetsounds Vs Kicker)

I am looking to outfit a Seahunt 27 Gamefish with new audio equipment. I ordered the Fusion UD650, Wetsounds Syn 6DX, 1 pair Wetsounds Revo 8", and 2 pair Wetsounds Revo 6". I was ready to go until my Brother is looking into an upgrade on his Chapparral 287 and many dealers/installers are telling him the Kickers are better than the Wetsounds. I am probably just having buyers remorse and I am sure my system will sound incredible, but looking for some opinions on Wetsounds versus Kicker. I am not looking to start a brand war and definitely not trolling, just want some honest feedback.

Wetsounds and JL audio are the 2 top dogs. That's been proven time and time again. Ask all the sound guys on here and sellers. Why do you think all high end boats have either WS or JL?

As explained it's all about budget and overall expectations

Thanks all, buyers remorse resolved. Now, I will steer my brother towards the WS system.

It really is a small premium to buy WS over the other brands in the grand scheme of things, and the performance is so much better.

I put all rockford fosgate marine in my 31 contender and love it. My bud replaced his jl stuff with rockford in his yellowfin and loves it. Some of his jl stuff was older and he wanted it updated. More budget friendly than jl or wetsounds

Kicker and Rockford Fosgate are budget-friendly B-level options. No other audio company has the engineering resources of JL Audio. No other audio company is as committed to the marine category as Wetsounds. JL Audio and Wetsounds are your A-level options.

For head unit yes, for amps NO, for speakers there are better options for the money.

I ran all WS in my Wakeboat, Pair of REV 8s & Pair of REV 10s on the Tower, 6 in boats and SUB with a Clarion head unit. That system was killer and I never had any issue with the 3 x HT-4 and 1 x SYN-4 AMPs powering the different speaker sets.

The JL and WS with the correct amplifer power will outperform any kicker or Rockford's. The JL's cater to sound quality and durability and WS caters to Volume with Clarity and only build outdoor rated speakers. Kicker and Rockerford adapted car audio speakers with marine materials. I own JL's in our boats, and Kickers in my golf cart(which goes mudding) and my buddy has a badass setup WS system. The kickers arent to the level of the JL's or WS.

Agreed! The only reason they would say that Kicker is better is because they can't get WS.

There is a significant difference between running JL speakers off of a radio head-unit versus off a properly sized amplifier. The speakers will sounds more clear and higher volume. If sound quality or higher sound volume is not a concern then you can get away with Kicker speakers. I would recommend the larger speakers like 8" coaxial for a decent system than the 6.5". The bass response is much better and can cover most music genres without the need of a sub-woofer.

As the thread starter, I feel compelled to weigh in on this older thread. In addition to the equipment I listed above, I added a 10"Revo sub with a WS amp. My system sounds incredible!!! I have no experience with any of the other brands, but I would buy the WS system 10 times over. If I turn it up half way while anchored I start to get looks from nearby boaters. The sound is crisp and clear, never distorted or just plain loud. Amazing!
