Default Garmin Blue Chart Mobile vs. Sirius Weather

Does anyone run Blue Chart mobile weather and switched to Sirius XM weather subscription instead? I know that the Blue Chart Mobile weather needs to be in cellphone range to work so that's a drawback but most of my fishing is within cell phone range. Is the $600 for the GXM53 antenna plus the service really worth the cost?

Sirius weather is an awesome accurate service and when it saves you once it is worth all the cost. It will save you many times.

GXM53 is a great unit. We have had awesome feedback with these and even the older GXM52's. Well worth the cost for most guys trying to get he most out of their fishing trips.

Both the XM weather and the antenna you need are WAY overpriced, and over rated, and not worth the money. As long as you can use the Blue Chart weather I would stick with that option.

Would be GREAT if Bluechart Mobile was available on Android as well. I'm guessing we may never see that.

I'm not a huge fan of BlueChart mobile. BlueChart mobile only seems to work if you actively have the app open on your phone. Most of the time my display just says 'Weather Expired' until I open the app again.

If I have to keep opening the app every time, I might as well just look at Weather Underground or some other radar app. I want the weather to just always be there on my chartplotter. The price tag for the GXM 53 is high, but I'm pretty tempted to switch to it at this point.

There is no reason for the antenna to cost that much period! It is not like it is a mini doppler radar spinning inside the unit. A couple of circuit boards and satellite receiver is all that it is...BS! More people would purchase if the price was reasonable!

Most down here in the South venture out 20++ miles, no cell service beyond 12+ miles, cell apps are no option.
