Default What do I want?

Am going to add new electronics this year. I am thinking of putting a 10 inch color raymarine hsb system in with radar, chartplotter, and fishfinder in one display. Money wise, I think I may be able to put all with smaller displays for about the same money but all be stand alone systems without hsb. Also, the salesman said since I am installing radome on t-top the 2 kw is all I would need because the 4 kw would be overkill. Any suggestions about what I am wanting to do? I was wondering if anyone else had used the HSB system for a center console. I only have one station so multiple displays is not needed.

Tell us a little more about your boat and how you plan to use the radar. I have 2Kw, it came with the boat...4Kw might have been better choice. Also talk with the people at www.consumersmarine.com great people to discuss this with...they sell both. As to GPS, I prefer Garmin. www.GPSdiscounts.com If I we're doing it myself again; the choice would be Furuno or Raymarine. I think it wise to stay with one manufacture and tie it all together. Color cordinated! Hope this gets you started.

Called consumer marine today. Have decided on the furuno 1732c which is a 4 kw 36 mile radar with chartplotter. Am going to purchase a separate independent fishfinder. Thinking about the 582 or 600 L both by furuno. Thanks, Mumblerone for the info. They got a sell off you.

I looked at the 10" screen and really loved them. Then looked at the smaller screen. Numbers showing depth on charts were too small for me to read. I asked the sales guy to increase the size of the numbers as he had just increased the size of the fonts for other information on the screen. Surprise it could not be done.

Suggest that you place the smaller screen at the distance you will be viewing it when you are running your boat, imagine 3 to 4 ft waves and then ask yourself, can I read those numbers?

My decision, based upon my cashflow reality of getting a new boat was to get the larger screen now and buy the rest of the nice to haves next year.

Not to proud to say I have a chahflow problem, however if it is too small to read then its not for me. My less than $0.02 worth.
