Default Garmin Voltage Display

Why isn't the DC voltage displayed in the data bar? System voltage is displayed on the sonar screen, but with DC voltage selected in the data bar of the chart, it gives no indication. Is there a setup step required to get the reading on the data bar, besides just selecting DC Voltage for display? ;?

are you sure "DC Voltage" MEANS the "system voltage" (the voltage powering the unit) ?

the data display capabilities on these current models is very comprehensive -

the menu on my unit provides display choices for many items of data which I do not have...

No, I'm not. I scoured the manual and couldn't find anything about what the parameter is. There is a little icon that says "DC 255" in the display, which makes me think that the parameter might be something else.

just checked;

To see the voltage being supplied to your MFD - same as the Sonar screen displays -

look under the "system" menu and select "Unit Voltage"

"DC Voltage" is one of a number of parameters under the menu group " Power"

I assume there exist sophisticated generator/shore power/battery monitor systems which output their status via NMEA 2000 - and so Garmin provides options to display those.

I have no idea what "DC 255" means. Perhaps an identifier of a NMEA 2000 PGN
