Default Raymarine C120 power button ?

So my c120 would not turn on and I thought it might be related to some cooler weather we have seen. I decided to use my heat gun to warm the face of the display to see if this would fix it. After 10 minutes of heat it turned on. Once it sat for awhile the power button would not work, so I couldn't turn the unit off. I then used the heat gun specifically over the power button and it started working again.

Has anyone ever noticed this before?

Any idea why heat directed over the power button might allow it to work again?

Don't the front faces and button pads pull off on those older raymarines? I would see what comes off and if you can clean beteeen rubber pad and contact below.

They do on the classics.

If you send it in, don't expect a quick turn around. Mine is on it's way back after over a month. I'm in NC and I shipped it out same day!

Keypad is probably bad or the tac switch is bad. The heat may cause just enough expansion to arc the circuit to turn it on. We have 3 or 4 rebuilt keypad pcb's on hand for that unit. If you do send to raymarine, I would be very surprised if they are able to fix it.

Regards

Max

I would definitely send to Max before RM. He will likely be cheaper, faster, and more responsive.

Well if you find you need to replace the main display I've got a fully functional one that I plan on selling, just haven't had the energy to deal with eBay. I've had it since new its been problem-free.

Quick update for anyone that ever comes across this issue. Ended up sending it to Max, my keypad circuit had a bad micro power button. Max was able to diagnose the issue, make the repair and send back to me. In all it took a week to ship the C120 and receive it back.
