Default 36 Yellowfin Transducers

If you were building a new 36 yellowfin which transducers would you run. Two Garmin 7615s , fishing in 500 ft or less and mostly 250 or less with 50/50 bottom/trolling. Any issues with the stepped hull? B175HW and the GT51?

If you're budget is that large you might consider going through hull on the clearvu/sidevu. You try not to put transom mounts of boats over 30ft if you don't have to, though the through hulls are pricey and the transom mount will probably work fine at trolling speeds. The 175HW will be great for fish in the water column and the M will be a little better at bottom resolution and some pelagic species.

If you want better bottom resolution get the B175H for its narrow cone and the GT51M will be your wider cone setup.

If your trailering or lift keep the boat a fairing block would not be suggested. Mounting a B175hw will be the best for trolling work, mount it fwd of the step. The GT series will take some planning and layout.
Where are you located?

Im in South Carolina and will be dry stacking the boat.I will definitely have it thru hull and YF has a designated space for the transducers just in front of the steps. I guess I dont know whether I need one or two. Thanks for the info.

Yellowfin suggests the B265, B275 or the R509 transducers

If they are glassed in as a flush mount then yes the first two would be options. The R509 would certainly require a GSD26 sounder to push it.

Yes it will. B265 and B275 are 1kw transducers and the R509 is a 2-3kw transducer.

The B265 and B275 will plug and play with the xsv series.

The R509 will require the GSD-26 black box.

I have a 265 glassed in by YF hooked to a GSD26. It is a very nice setup and reports depth to WOT.

Side view is tricky on stepped hulls. You can put them behind the hull on the step transom, but this is slow speed operation only. http://themarineinstallersrant.blogs...nd-downvu.html

I have a friend that had an older Simrad version mounted on the hull behind the step and the transducer came apart part of it fell off underway. That one was clearly not designed for high speed operation.

I have the same setup, B265 glassed in by YF going to a GSD26. Works great, reads water temps well. I read bottom past 1000ft.
