Default 2 MFDs and an Antenna

A Garmin 7608 and 7612 tied through a NMEA 2000 backbone. Now add an external antenna because I just can't come to trusting the built-in antennas for rapid, consistent reception regardless of what those who know a lot more tell me. Any problems with the external and internal antennas fighting each other?

I run a different system but I believe on almost all units you can select the input source. Just select the external antenna... I currently run two units with internal antennas but utilize an external antenna. If ever the external antenna goes bad, you can use the internal as a back up

(I dont know if "auto" would default to the external or internal antenna so be sure to select the antenna you want to use.)
