Default Connect M260 to Garmin god 26

Hello,
Hoping someone on here may be able to help me, I have installed a Garmin 7212 and GSD 26 and an Airmar B175M in my boat, I had a Northstar 6000 with a M260 installed, can the M260 be wired into the gad 26 as a back up transducer or better to just remove it
If it can be installed which wires go where.
Thankyou

I don't think that is an option with the GSD 26 and is the reason I went with an xsv unit so that I could run two separate ducers. I really like the M260 and think you are going to miss the fine bottom detail it provides over the B175M but it all depends on what you want to see.

You will need to make a switch box using a rotary switch. Your basically running two transducers to one sounder. This could get a little complicated unless you have a good understanding of the transducer color code. Is the M260 a chirp or broadband type transducer low and high frequencies.

The m260 is not a CHIRP transducer

Yes, it can be done easily. Would work well.

HOWEVER - as others have said, you can't connect both the B175 and the M260 at the same time - they use the same port on the GSD26. Airmar sells a switch box for just this purpose.

Brian here is correct. Garmin doesn't seem to support dual frequency transducers on the GSD26. You will need a GSD24 or a GSD25 to run the M260

The M260 will not work with the GSD-26 but still no need to remove it.

The M260 is a very good ducer and you can use it with many other units as a back up or even a secondary sonar.
Look around for a used Furuno FCV 585, FCV587 or FCV585..they will make the M260 shine.

Or a GSD-24, GSD25 as mentioned.

Thankyou, I was given a gsd 24 sometime ago by a friend before I went with the chirp option, if I connect the M260 up to that would I be able to split screen the two transducers with the 7212. What wires would connect to what on the gsd 24, would the Garmin colour codes apply, sorry not sure as it was originally hooked up to the Northstar.
Thankyou for you for all your help, most appreciated.

To use the M260 with the GSD-24 you use the Garmin 8 pin wire block adapter.(It will have the wiring code)

You cannot use the GSD-24 and the GSD-26 at the same time with a 7212.

To connect the M260 to a Furuno you just need a Furuno 10 pin pig tail....no black box needed.

The FCV 585,587,588 are all excellent sonars.
