Default JL or Wetsound 8" and what amp

So I know a lot of people on here love wetsounds stuff but I have had good results with JL as well. Not so much with fusion speakers. So I'm building new boat and thinking about 4 speakers two in center console and two in bow facing stern. The JL 8s seem to sound good in all ranges never heard WS. Not sure if I need to do 2- 7.5" and 2- 8" or 4- 8" sorry to babble on but that's what's going through my head. Fusion head will be what I go with and not sure on amp either. Also if you know good places to shop any info would be great. Looking at getting 9-10" Garmin as well. Thanks again Dave

Wet Sounds 808 are really great speakers. Take 4 of those and pair them with a WS SD4 amp. The SD amp provides tons of power and is very efficient.

Speak with Mike or Brian at International Marine. They will point you in the right direction.

That's actually the setup that I'm looking at doing if I go to a new boat, with the exception of adding two 6.5's up to the T-Top. I've got 6.5's now and they are great speakers.

Capt. Dave,
You will have a strong system with either brand's 8-inch coaxial offering. With either, the sweet spot for power will be in the range of 150 to 200 watts per speaker.
The JL Audio M880 8" coaxial uses an over-sized soft dome that is the largest tweeter in the 8" speaker class. This ensures a smooth response through the mid-band, particularly on vocals. Two amplifier choices in the JL Audio line-up would be the M800/8 for 4 X 200 watts or the MHD600/4 for 4 X 150 watts. The MHD is far more robust than the power spec suggests since it has dual power supplies, is strictly regulated, and will deliver its full rated power into any reasonable impedance load or with any reasonable supply voltage. Either JL Audio amplifier choice has a very sophisticated front end and will provide for a very precise set-up and tune (with a little guidance from your dealer).
For the Wetsounds 8" coaxials, the Wetsounds SD4 will be the perfect amplifier companion at 4 X 185 watts. It's the most expensive amplifier option, however there is also a performance premium that goes with the cost...when driving a 4-ohm load all around (versus 2-ohms) it is operating well below its power supply capacity, and this means softer clipping and more dynamic headroom.
