Default NMEA 200 Question

If I hook up my Verado to the Garmin ... Will I be able to use the same set up if I switch to Simrad GPS ?

Thanks

Not sure the particulars of your installation and what you are expecting to share via n2k, so what will work is up for negotiation. But if you are talking about the network hardware, n2k is a generic interface and is cross platform compatible. So all the information on the network can be consumed by any device that speaks n2k

Yup. The end of the cable that hooks up to the Verado may be specific to that engine, but the other end of the cable will connect to any N2K backbone and then to any MFD that does N2K.

thanks guys...

I wanted to get engine data on the Garmin ... but I plan to change over to Simrad GO9 in a few months ...

There is a specific chip for the Keys Backcountry I want to use and it doesn't work on Garmin ...

Yep, just unplug the Cable going from the Garmin to the network, and connect it to the Simrad instead. I think you may get extra Merc data on the Simrad as well.
