Default Ranger Keyless Ignition Touchpad and "Brain"

Hello,
This is regarding my 2004 Ranger 185VX.
I had to order another keyless ignition touchpad the other day from Ranger.

The price of the new touchpad was actually better than I thought it would be; however, he asked me if I also needed the "brain", and after quoting its price I decided to roll the dice and not get that... at least yet.

Can anyone tell me where the brain is located? Are they just referring to the fuse box panel in the storage compartment in front of the drivers console, or something else?

Thanks for the help.
