Default 7" garmin as fish finder

What are your opinions on a 7" screen as a stand alone fish finder/depth finder?
Think its to small?
I currently have a 5212 that runs gps/radar, had a furuno 585 but that quit working on me the other day so trying to find something that fits in the same area and wont brake the bank.

Thanx!

I ran a Garmin Stryker 7sv this summer, and just spent 3 hours on the water with it's replacement on my boat, a Garmin Echomap 93sv.

I moved up so that I could get screen captures and record SideVu.

I didn't notice the extra screen size at all when I was on the water.

On both, I ran SideVu full width on the top half of the screen, a nav chart on the lower left, and DownVu on the right.

I'm hugely impressed with the 7sv. It's every bit the equal of the 2x more expensive 93sv sonar-wise. I have reviews up on the BBC Garmin board.

What you choose is going to depend on where and what you fish for I think.

How many and what type of transducers do you need? How deep do you fish? Do you use side/downview or just 2D?

Do you want the smaller MFD to also have a charting option as a backup?

Do you have any interest in recording your sonar?
