No. but I have been kicking the idea around. I've had such good luck with the GoPro black but I do like the Garmin features.

I bought a couple of virbs haven't used my go Pro since. If you have a garmin chart plotter on your boat its even better.

I really think the go pro offers no advantages over the Virb cameras.

I bought a VRIB XE last December to use to grab videos of my clients catching fish and as alway carry dive camera when i am diving.
The VIRB XE has some really awesome features what drove me to bu this camera:
- close once - never open again, camera can't be taken out of the housing
- external charging and transfer port
- sturdy aluminum housing
- can record for hours and hours when connected with external power
- i can see and control the VIRB from my Garmin 7610xsv

In reality i had some annoying problems:
- Video quality is a bit lesser than GoPro and "only" Full HD
- serious trouble with charging using several type usb cargers. Camera switch of as full, but is actually empty
- Camera behaves erratic under water till render it useless
- Using the camera with the latest software in May 2016, the problems still persist

I am not sure if i got a lemon or if those is a common problem with this camera.

There is a new software update out, i will upload it and see if my VIRB works as promised or not
.

I've been using my Garmin Ultra for about a month run it next to a GoPro IV the video quality of the Ultra matches that of my GoPro IV and it is easier to control because I run it thru my 7610. Either way you can't go wrong.

FYI - The Garmin Virb Ultra 30 requires a separate (included) water proof case for use in wet environments and can not be charged or connected to power while in the waterproof case (this is notably different that the Virb X or Virb XE)

For what it's worth, I like my Gopro3 better than my GoPro4. I would try the Virb Xe if I thought I could play back the videos on my Garmin MFD. It seems that it will live stream to MFD but not playback. We're diving and it would be fun to plug the camera into the MFD and show the dive we just did, but if it won't do that, I'm not sure that the streaming adds a lot of value over an inexpensive Gopro.

As i wrote,
the VIRB XE is a one of a kind camera as she allows to be powered inside the dive housing.
You just pull a usb cable from your dashboard to the mounting location, connect the camera and you can record as long your sd card allows (and with today's 128MB cards that's a lot of hours).
Unfortunately Garmin changed this in the new VIRB Ultra 30 and that makes her not better than a GoPro, except that you can stream on a Garmin MFD.
I am not sure if you can playback to the MFD and i am looking where my camera is so i can't verify that.
