Default 6100i add radar and transducer or go new?

New to me boat has a working 6100i but the transducer seems shot and no radar. Would ya'll chuck it and start fresh or attempt a short term upgrade? If I go new budget is 3-4 k for hardware. Would really like some input as I'm really on the fence... Radar is a must have for me

A northstar unit ? I have a 958 and added radar and transducer and box to mine. About $500. Have the best of all 3 worlds, adding a compass sensor so I can overlay radar on GPS. Love the big screen. Go for it.

Northstar 6100i was a nice unit for its time but is pretty old in the world of marine electronics. If you can find stuff very cheap it can help you hold off replacing everything, but I wouldn't put much money into it. $3-4K is a decent budget to start with for new stuff. A lot has changed since Northstar got bought. CHIRP sounders, scanning sonar, brighter touchscreen displays, faster processors, more detailed maps, solid state radars...(northstar did have an early one)
