Default Navnet 3d replacement?

I am looking at a used boat with black box navnet 3D with a 3kw sounder and an airmar r399 ducer. How current is this setup compared to what I have now on my boat. I have all garmin 7612xsv with 2 transducers with sidevu and chirp.

Should I plan on replacing the whole system?

Is the navnet 3D stuff too slow for today's standards?

In comparison yes, TZ is lightning fast, wifi, no need for hubs and nmea 2000

Navnet 3D are the first "Time Zero" (TZ) units out by Furuno! They just dont have the second T for touch screen. It is a TZ unit with buttons. They are lightning fast on the redraw. So fast that they are "time zero" and faster than most on the market today in this regard (maybe slightly slower going function to function, doubt you will notice though).

They are great units. Biggest gripe you will hear is that the user interface can be quirky if you are not used to it. Like any brand though, once you get used to it they are simple to use. Unless you want to go to the TZT units for simple touch screen use, I would just run what you have. It will be durable and long supported by Furuno. a 3kw unit is no joke for offshore use. Over the summer I had a conversation with a couple offshore charter capts out of OCMD and they were talking how they would rather have a high power Furuno over the new CHIRP units on the market. (

Furuno has training videos for all their Navnet units online so you see the user interface and how to use them.. Here is the Navnet 3D series.https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...F3427B3A9B2B7E

See more info here too: http://www.navnet.com/3d/
