Default Tracking help w garmin 741xs

So I was trying to lay an active track, and erased all of my old tracks. Thank goodness I still have my 17 year old furuno!

The unit won't lay any tracks now. The problem started before the erasure. I did study the owners manual but it's of little help.

The unit says tracks are "on". Please tell me a solution short of a system upgrade. (I will do that but not until end of fall bass season). I'm not happy with the unit.......

For instance...I was trying to lay a track (over my heavily traveled inlet) and wanted to have it a different color. SO I tried to put in a green track. Voila...all my tracks changed to green. There doesn't seem to be a way to have individual tracks with different colors?

LOL I'm having "issues" (it's you!!)

You have an "active track" - and you can set it's color in the menu under >Active Track Options

when you "save" the active track - or a part of it - you can select the color to save it as

also, you can "edit" a "saved track" at any time to change its color

but since you say "all my tracks changed to green "

makes me think you don't routinely "save" the active track, and then "clear" the active track to start fresh

but instead,

what you have is one giant multi-day / multi-trip active track....

That makes sense. Now if I could figure out how to start laying tracks again. Machine says tracks are "on" !
