Default Garmin touch screen sensitivity...

Water drops running down my screens cause my mfds to go into pan mode, this is a real PIA if running in inclimate weather or rough seas to have keep switching back know and forth.

Is there way to address this?

Yes, get a Garmin Grid and when in inclement weather lock the touchscreens and use the Grid.

I've heard of this issue with some of the first generation touch screens but I haven't seen it at all in the 7600 series. I have an open cockpit and am a diver so my touch screens get wet and rained on all of the time. May be a particular model.

I had the problem with my 5212 and now my 8212's.

Thing is, it really wasn't bad Sunday, just rough, taking a lot of spray, some water got by the curtains or dripped from canvas on t-top, ran down face of console/units, then pan mode. Happened repeatedly on my way out fishing. When you're relying on radar is disconcerting the screens would do this.

I guess I need to figure out this lock feature.

What is this grid?

I have big issues with rain hitting the screen with my 8212 and 7612xsv. It happens at the worst time with no visibility and you lose the screens as well. A real issue.

What is this grid?

The Grid is a small keypad that can control the 8000 and 7600 series MFD's. It connects to the Marine Network

The touchscreen lock is available when you tap the power button on the same page as the backlight control. You can invoke lock and stop the rain from driving the screen crazy, but you can't make any changes while in lock, but better than no useful screen at all.

no issues with rain on my 7612s and im in an open bass boat. i installed the grid thinking i would need buttons and I've never used it

you don't need the grid to lock the screen. just hit the power button
