Default Mounting a transome mount Xducer

Guys I am mounting a second FF on my 23 Reg. I know the ducer is supposed to go on the starboard side. Is obsolutely neccesary? I bought a new RM E120 on want the most of it. I will remove the older Furuno if neccesary?

In theory, if you have a traditional clockswise rotating prop, you expose the transducer to less potential turbulence if it is on the downswing side of the prop (starboard) than on the upswing side (port). Having had boats in the past that did have the transducer on the port side (and worked fine at speed) and seeing numerous boats trailered with tm ducers on the port side, I don't think ot is a deal breaker in as much as it is an if you can, this puts you in the best light type deal.

I just mounted mine on the port side. I even mounted it inside the 3" swing of the propellor. Haven't had any issues with interfernece or with cavitaging the prop.

Be careful with the transom mount. Template is set up for the stbd side. Measure 3 times on port before drilling holes.
