The sooner I know this, the sooner Brian gets my $$$. Have a shiny new CHIRP ducer waiting for a sonar. Not going to jump the gun in case there is fancy new BSM 4 waiting in the shadows too

There is a reason why BSM-3, GSD26 and CP570 are huge beasts in aluminium chassis'. This class of sounders can't be integrated into a MFD. I would be surprised if Evo3 has more than 500 W rms of transmit power, but this is sufficient to give good results with a 2 kW transducer.

I heard it was coming, but didn't know the halo would have Doppler. Excellent. Does anyone have any more info on the Doppler aspects? Will it be similar to the Furono nxt in regards to some of the features?

I have twin 7's as well. Love them. Just had one of the screens touch capability stop working where the menu button was. Sent back under warranty and got upgrade option for 9" - $500 and 12" - $750. Couldn't fit the 12" so upgraded to the 9". Thought that was pretty cool opportunity for the inconvenience of the bad unit. I love Simrad.

So looking at the BSM3 manual it says it's 250 RMS. Honestly I always thought it was higher than that.

So you have a 7" and 9" now side by side?

The B Jack doesn't have the real estate for much bigger... I might could get 9's to fit, maybe.

Love the dual units though!

Right now I have a 7" and hole

When the 9" gets here, yes. Should be next week.

If it shows up at Flibs, and anyone has a chance to check it out who is an Evo2 user, some details on how it compares to Evo2, improvements, etc. would be good to hear. I am also curious to know if the Halo open array will incorporate Doppler?

Is your acceptance to 'upgrade' to a 9" for a brand new unit or a "refurbished" unit built from parts from other peoples failed units?
Although warranties are extended in some way, the life expectancy after warranty period is affected if the refurbished unit has parts that have done hundreds of hours on someone else's boat. If anyone doubts this what do you think will happen to the traded in, 7" faulty unit, it will no doubt be repaired and supplied to someone else will it not.?

I'm a month or so into 12" evo2'. I'm liking the units more everyday and if I had it to do over I wouldn't wait for evo3's. Rarely is it a good idea to buy at the beginning of an offering. Better to wait a qtr or two IMO.

It's refurbished. New screen, buttons, etc. on outside. Inside could have been used. Could have been a demo. I'm fully aware of what I'm getting. I can extend the warranty another year if I want which would get me out over 2 years from now. Not really worried about. I can get my 7" back which would be refurbished and has hundreds of hours on it or a 9" that has been refurbished and "could" have hundreds of hours on it. Not a big difference to me.

No Offence, but sounds like you have an axe to grind. I've seen your other posts trying to alert others about refurbished units, I don't see allot of people bitching about these simrad remain units durability.

What's with the constant bashing?

someone can correct me if i am misinformed.....I was told reman units could also be old stock from vendors that has been returned to the manufacturer for various reasons. The manufacturers may or may not test the units but have to sell them as reman because they can not technically be labeled as new anymore. I have purchased numerous reman Raymarine products and they have all been good for me and backed by their warranty. I know their are many disgruntled Raymarine and former Raymarine customers on here but they have been very good to me. That being said, If i had not just purchased two reman C127s with the spring rebate I would have been all over the reman Simrad 12'' EVO2s! Poor timing for me
