Default Simrad AP22 Replacement Head

I have a AP22 that was doing strange things last time out, would go into test mode, flash strange messages, this morning I turned it on it flashed a few times, now it's dead.

My questions are, what would be a plug and play replacement with rotary knob and the same footprint.

Would be happy with a used, working AP22 head unit if I could find one.

Thanks.

Nothing is a drop in replacement except the AP22.
Expect to pay $800-$1000 for a used head unit.
Your unit likely has some amount of water damage due to a design defect, we can attempt repair.

AP 20, 21 & 22 are all the same Simrad AP compatible "family" and have that great rotary knob, and should work as plug-ins with your j-box without need for EPROM sw version changes back to compatibility with much older models like AP 300CX.

But the 20 is larger and the 21 is a handy full-functioned cabled hand-held remote with dash holster bracket, so as Max notes, nothing with rotary knob will fit in your same dash opening for plug & play w/ your j-box except another AP22. And none of the 3 models are listed presently on ebay , though the AP 22 does appear there reasonable often ( sometimes from MAX) , or even here in the THT Parts forum .

MaxMarineElectronics and MEOB are the 2 best bets for repairs or tested/working used Simrad AP equipment. There is also a place called RoberstonRepairs but I believe they focus on even older APunits repairs. I've only dealt with Max and he was very helpful, with good results.
