Default Entry level Chartplotters

Navman 5430, Garmin 172, Lowrance 4800 - Which one to buy and why? I have no experience with any of them. I have lots of experience with Garmin aviation units but none with marine. Advice and Opinons on any of these three units is appreciated. No need for a fish finder because the boat already has a lowrance unit installed. I just need nav functions and like the idea of having the charts (blue chart/c-map, etc..) on the display. Thanks...Andy

I'd probably go with the Lowrance because the screen resolution is higher. Garmin 2nd.

I have a Garmin 178C and like it pretty well. The charts are spot on in the keys and the customer service/tech support was very good when I was installing it myself, and when I had a screen setup question that I couldn't figure out after I used it a few months. I'd happily buy another Garmin.

All that said, the Lowrance ones look good too, I just haven't used them, and can't imagine their support would be any better.
