Default Amp Install Problems

Installed a used amp and when powered on it immediately goes into and out of protection mode. Meaning the power light flashes blue, red, blue, red etc...

So I removed the amp and cut some 1ft power and ground wires and remote wire and connected it directly to a different battery. Same issue.

Seems like something internal to me based on not working when connected directly on the battery with nothing else plugged into it.

The amp is a RF 600.4D and wiring was marine tinned 8ga.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Its faulty. When protection cuts in it removes the power to the power supply transistors. As this removes the fault current, the amp turns on again and repeats over and over. If you can measure the battery terminals at the amp with a voltmeter you will see the voltage drop to the protection level, say 10 volts then recover. Using a tong type ammeter will likewise show up as a heavy current even though nothing is connected. Anyway that's my best guess.
