Default Lowerance plotter connection to laptop

I have for some months been experiencing a problem with my openCPN recognizing my BU353S4 gps and am currently addressing this problem on the Cruising Forum I however urgently need help with another option as need to use my chart plotter in the immediate future.
As a primary or secondary option I wish connect my Lowerance Elite5 HDI sounder/plotter to my laptop via the NMEA cable exiting the unit which I am advise by Navico puts out an NMEA sentence. From there I need help.
I presume the connection to my laptop would be by way of a USB Plug/Port

Exiting the Elite5 I have my NMEA cable consisting of 5 wires:

YELLOW = TX[+]
BLUE = TX[-]

ORANGE = [RX+]
GREEN = [ RX-]

SILVER = SHIELD/GROUND.

Would you please advise me where to go from here to compete the connection.

You need an RS323 Serial to USB converter if your laptop does not have a serial port.
Set Baud to 4800 with or without the checksum.
Change colours to suit RX and TX.
Note that depending on the software, apart from the seeing the scrolling MNEA0183 sentences on the laptop comms display, you can only get the ships cursor on third party charts. Sounder data is various depth like DPT DBS and DBK and temp, no graphics.
