Default Settings for HDS 8 Gen 2?

Using a P79 transducer in the Chesapeake. My targets are very small on the screen. A fish shoes up a a small blip and in used to a large more defined arc. I have it set for general fishing. Auto sensitivity at -4. Color line at 60. Using the 200hz mode. Do I need to zoom in?

I'm marking stuff just fine but the targets just look small on the screen.

At which depths are the targets? If you are used to Lowrance 83/200 kHz transducers, a P79 has a much narrower signal cone. Make sure the Ping rate is at max and increase the Picture speed.

I will make a note of that. Targets are anywhere from 10-80'. Just small blips. Not the larger prominent arcs I am used to on transom mounted units. I made sure my unit is installed correctly so that's not an issue. And I do get very small arches or a small line. The unit picks up a 1/2oz buck tail at 50' easily. So I just have to get the right settings.

You can try to run 50/200 kHz split screen, 50 kHz has a very wide signal cone, but lower resolution.
