Default Garmin 74sv

I am looking at buying a new, Garmin 74sv (010-01388-02) with transducer for $737,09, free shipping and no tax. I understand it dose not support nema 2000, and It is also last years model. I don,t need nema 2000.
Is this a good unit for local fishing say 25 to 30 miles offshore near Stuart Fl.?

Dont know anything about these but CHIRP is more than worth the difference in cost.

That unit at West Marine doesn't include any transducer and it would also be taxed.

It includes a power/data cable, flush-mount and bracket mount equipment, and a transom-mount transducer with attached cable.

That is a DV unit not the SV unit that the OP is asking about. It has Down Vu only and not the Down Vu, Side Vu that the 74 SV has

Sounds like a helluva price. I have one I paid about that much for without transducer last year. Was a nice rebate at the time that helped.

Easy to operate, good for me, used to handheld GPS, but chartplatters are new. Recently added a P79 transducer and it all works well while I figure it out.

The software has gone through several revisions, biggest change I noted was getting the backlight to work properly. Supposedly added a bottom search limit setting that speeds up bottom reacquisition. Have not found this new setting yet and i need it as the depth where I am goes from 30' to 1000' very quickly and I lose bottom all the time.
