Default Auto pilot options

On my 26 ft CC,I have all garmin 4210 that are on a 2 k network, the tr1 is not, originally had 3210's before 2k network existed...the tr1 pump is about done...rusted away and very very loud now...

Looked at garmin auto pilots...$$$

Started looking at other options, like simrad

Am i wrong in thinking that since i have the plumbing already for the pump and with the 2k network thst using any brand auto pilot would be a pretty straight forward install?

While i have loved my tr1 i only use 2 features, steer to my fishing wAypoint or keep the boat going straight, all others i have had no use for so just a basic setup is all i ever need.

If i am missing something please tell me..

Thanks again.

I am considering installing one as well..... I have a Raymarine equipped Cobia 296 2015 with twin 300 Yammies..... they are recommending Raymarine EV200.....

two questions.... is it worth it on a small boat??? main uses?? could you reliable cruise lets say 30-35 mph with the Autopilot on 2-3 ft waves???

Just want to know if it's a good add on......

I'm planning an Exumas Trip on a month.... Back and forth a 600 Miles.... so is it something I'd regret not having???

ctoolman, any reason not to replace just the pump if you are happy with the rest of the components? It is not clear to me what you are trying to do.

iacamacho, you can make the trip without an autopilot, but I think you will be mighty glad to have one. Properly sized the AP will keep you on track in anything you and your boat can stand at that speed. Don't relax too much with "Iron Mike" at the helm. Always keep a sharp watch.

Auto pilot all the way yes a/p will keep you straight in 6' waves ask me how I know. I would say 600mi with out a/p is going to be very tiresome
