Default Great Lakes Chartplotter

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a plotter for a 29' boat that I'd like to take around the Great Lakes this summer? I don't do much fishing and am not sure if I should invest in the additional sounder. I would like the ability to add fuel consumption and water temp/depth to the display, if possible.

Thanks for your input!

With most of the current model MFD combo units you can have fuel information capability.
For example.. with the Garmin units that have NMEA 2000...you add a GFS 10 fuel sensor module.

As to water temp..get a combo unit with the cheaper transducer and you will have water temp.

What size screen are you looking for?

I was thinking a 7 or 8" screen. It will be replacing an existing Garmin 182C.

Looking at the Garmin site today I noticed the 7607, 7407, 741 and the suggested 840. Pros and cons?

Thanks

The 7600 and the 840 have built in cartography , the 7400 does not. The 840 is a traditionally formatted screen and the 7600 is a wide screen. Buttons on the 840xs and full touch on the 7600. Single band chirp on the 840xs and dual band chirp on the 7600, you really wouldn't need dual band fishing where you do and the stated limited amout of fishing to be done.

Imlay,

If your name implies location, I am right down the road. Shoot me a PM and I can discuss your options as I boat the same water, but Brian's advice is spot on......His Customer service is top notch!

If you have a transducer in the boat now, we can make it work on new display.
