Default Suzuki SMIS Gauge Issue: Miles Per Gallon

I have a Suzuki SMIS networked to a Furuno TzT with a working GPS puck

SMIS Sysyem Analysis recognizes all the attached sensors.

I am able to get the following information on the Furuno TzT from the Suzuki ECU:

1)) RPM
2))Engine Temp
3)) GPH
4)) MPG

However, on the SMIS gauge, eventhough MPG is entered properly as a desired setting, I am not able to get the reciprocal MPG data on the SMIS gauge as I am able to get on the TZt

Units are the same: miles per gallon

However, data on the chartplotter for MPG shows fine, but just three hyphens in the digital readout boxes on the SMIS gauge

I thought I took pretty good care to specifiy similar units on both chartplotter and gauge---anyone know what I should be looking at to get MPG to show on the SMIS gauge?

thanks

Probably a data source issue for fuel economy. Check the data source and it should be set to fuel flow. Will probably be only 2 options there, should be obvious which one to use. It not, try one, then the other. Also make sure that speed data source is set as SOG, so it picks up the GPS signal from the Furuno.

Thanks for that Moonlighter---always appreciate the prompt response and excellent recommendations.

BTW, is there a glossary of the SMIS terms? The options for "fuel setup" are numerous and unless you're completely familiar with the terms, it's hard to figure out what some of them mean

thanks again

A glossary of SMIS terms would be handy!

As far as I know, none exists other than the SMIS manual - which itself, leaves a fair bit to be desired! You just kind of have to figure them out as you go.

It is one of the ressons why I find that setting up the networks and configuring data sources is so much easier if done on a HDS or Simrad screen!

Thanks for that Moonlighter--by the way---I was able to finally get both GPH and MPG on both the Furuno and the SMIS gauge-----(using your guidance, of course) -- much appreciated!

Cheers! Glad you got it sorted out.

Once you get the hang of this system, 90% of the time you can figure things out. You've got it under control now!
