Default Garmin 7610 & 52HW & B60

The manual was not very clear to me.

What do you typically run the 2D and Scan frequencies set to and why? I have chirp, dual freq and single frequency 2D options and 400 and 800 on scan.

I assume depth and what you are looking for should guide which to use when?

Thats something ypu will need to play with. It all depends on how and where and what you fish for and your personal preferences.

In general, chirp does a better job than a single frequency in all modes - most of the time.

For 2D, higher frequencies usually have a narrower cone so they cover less bottom and also have less range. But you get a little better target separation. Chirp is usually the nest option unless you have a specific reason to go with a single freq.

For sideview and downview, higher frequencies again give more detail and less range. I also almost always prefer chirp to a fixed frequency.

Other settings like gain, contrast etc you will need to play with but - for the most part Garmins default settings work great - most of the time.
