Default Gps/sounder combo under $1500

Fishing out of a 23 hydra-sports bay bolt in Tampa bay and some off shore adventures rarely exceed 40'. Looking for a flush mount 9+" combo. I like the idea of side imaging and chirp even though I don't fully understand it all or know if it is actually all that's it's cracked up to be. The regular sounder has always worked quit well. Any suggestions on a solid unit with good graphics, transducer and charting that's been a proven success. I like the Garmin echo map 94sv and the hummingbird helix 10si but they seem to have many mixed reviews any suggestions would be great.

Just to clarify, I'm certain you meant the new Garmin 2016 94sv chirp model as opposed to the previous and similarly named 94sv model.

Went to west marine today and apparently the 94sv doesn't come with the proper transducer to get the SV feature it will be another $200. I'm comes with a standard transducer Not sure why they would sell a 94sv that can't get the SV. Any knowledge on the hummingbird helix10 that comes standard with the HD transducer and an upgraded processor compared to the helix 9 that has no HD transducer and would cost $300 upgrade to what comes standard on the 10?

Part Number: 010-01580-01
$1,299.99
This is why you deal with professional folks. It's hard to find knowledge at WM , Mahimahi99 is about the only one I know that has solid knowledge at WM

So this is your recommended combo unit under $1500? I am replacing a Furuno depth finder and broken Garmin 5212 GPS and want a all in one unit - I fish alot in The Bahamas, offshore and deep drop and need something clear and good. I island hop alot so need good GPS function as well.

Yes it is my recommendation based upon your budget and your requirements. The cartography is built in for the entire coastal US and the BAHAMAS!

If you are fishing coastal waters, go ahead and mark that Humminbird off your list.. Yes, they are great units and work fine, but very rarely do you see Humminbird on the coast. Stay with Garmin/Lowrance/Raymarine

I second that. Mahimahi99 knows his stuff. He's helped me with numerous setup issues on my boat.
