Default Can I splice NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 Furuno gps

So I messed up and snapped my gps antenna cable right at the hub going into the GP 330. MFD 12 GPS antenna. I ordered the cable for the GP330b but what came was a NMEA 0183 with 7 wires and the old one has 5. I tried to just connect the same colors and leave the extra yellow and orange wires but it didn't work. The connector fits the antenna perfectly but doesn't fit into my NMEA network because it's a NMEA 2000 network.
So, I can't send the $120 cable I just bought back because I cut it, and the new, right one (I hope) is a week away, I but would like to use my boat tomorrow. My question is, can I splice these two together or not at all? I assume they changed the colors but do the same thing and just need to know what color goes with which one. I'd be using the NMEA 0183 cable from the GP330 and splicing to NMEA 2000 to go into the NMEA 2000 backbone.
If you know anything that would help id appreciate it.
Thanks
Nick

The GP330B does both 0183 and 2000 on a single 9-pin connector. If you can figure out what pins are what, you can probably use that 9-pin connector to splice to a 2000 network. I say probably, because it's possible it is a molded connector and that they only bring out enough wires for 0183 support in the cable you have. If you cut that cable and there are 9 wires, you should be good to go.

I doubt you will find much help though with the pinout on the Furuno side.

So I can just plug and play till I find the correct order? Just want to be sure I won't short something out.

First, 0183 and NMEA 2000 are NOT directly compatible. You can't splice anything together and hope for anything to work. So forget about that.

The Furuno GPS is capable of either 0183 or NMEA 2000, with each using a different cable. You will have one cable or the other, and it will support one interface or the other. Never both.

You need to get the right cable for NMEA 2000, or perhaps temporarily wire the GPS to an 0183 port on the MFD12.

All this is cover in the GP330 manual and the MDF12 manual. There are wiring diagrams, connector pin assignments, wire colors, lists of cables, and cable part numbers
