Default Question on Battery Wiring

I have a twin engine boat with 2 batteries and 2 battery switches. I have been trying to determine how to set the switches for my operations. I typically run out about 30 minutes on both engines and then shut down one and troll with the other.

Does anyone have a diagram of how a typical twin engine dual battery, dual switch is set up? Will both batteries typically be charged by the converter when docked regardless of switch location? Will the only battery to be charged be the one that is selected for the motor that is running when off of shore power? I would like to isolate one battery while trolling so that I can be sure to be able to start the other engine if the house battery should get low.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Greg

Only thing that will charge is secured batter in your set up. The switch is a one way shunt from batt to motor.
You can install isolators or switchs like acr sells that will detect which batt needs charging.

remove the switches from the wall, follow each wire and make a diagram to post up. that is the only way people can answer. otherwise we are only guessing.

I would have traced the wires but with everything neatly packed into conduit and wiring troughs and passing through bulkheads that were inaccessible, I really didn't want to tear up the boat if it wasn't required. Based on what I see from the attachment and how my boat operates I believe it is wired up the same way.

Thanks for the response.
