Default Led strip project ...any recommendations?

As funny as it sounds, I did not find anything around here by using the word "led" ...

So here it is. I would like to add led strips to my storage compartments in my boat. My idea would be to stick led strips on the top of the compartments. That way, they would add light everywhere in the compartment while being out of direct sight to the crew.

I am looking for Marine Led Strip ... but like in everything, there are those Chinese strip at 10$ and those fashion's one at 150$ a strip.

Any of you guys already did a similar project? I am looking for a good balance between quality and price. I do not want to get ripped off, but I do not want to buy crap that will need to be replaced a week after I installed those.

Any recommendations?

Thanks guys...

Looks like a nice setup, but a bit on the expensive side. Any others did it as well?

When searching, use this technique;

In google or yahoo search box type

site:thehulltruth.com led

Will work for any site.

It should show results like this:

I'm looking for a programmable scrolling LED sign, outdoor-rated, to warn of thin ice due to my dock de-icers (pretty-much a legal thing)...also would like to find one for the boat itself, that displayed "Asshole" with the flip of a switch. Am I alone? I've wanted to do it in my car rear-window for decades...for tailgaters, those I pass who are driving at 1/3 the speed limit, etc. Maybe a little off-topic, but includes "LEDs"...

I have used $13 waterproof LED rope lighting (5050, 16 ft) sticky back for all kinds of stuff and it works fine. I did the motor compartment with cool white, and the underside of my gunwalles with Green. I did the inside of my snowmobile trailer with cool white, as well as underside of my bed rails on my new RAM truck.

That is an amazing technique! Did not know about this one. I commonly noticed that the search engine of forums are on the inefficient side...

This is a very good tip! Thanks Spearfish!

Motor and storage compartment ... this is exactly what I want to do! Did you order those online? If yes, where?

BluewaterLED is going to be at the top end but they have a lifetime replacement.
They are good, All depends on what you want to spend.

I got them from this guy on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/richard05960...72.m2749.l2754

Most of the high dollar LED's I see for sale are the same stuff you find on ebay, just marketed differently. Majority of them all come from China.

This is what I used in my engine room and they work great. 8 months so far with no issues.
Amazon Amazon

I used these under gunwales, in closets, cabinets, and lockers.
