Default Garmin Service Excellence

I recently saw a thread complaining about the poor service from Garmin and felt the need to respond.

Several months ago I bought a Garmin 7610xsv, 24 inch dome radar and a GT 51 sonar. On numerous occasions I have called Garmin service with some minor problems but mostly for advice and explanations on how something in my system works-all coming from someone (me) with virtually no experience with an up to date suite of electronics.

Each time I was surprised at how easy it was to get through to a knowledgeable technician with very little wait time. And once I had a technician on the line, he or she listened, asked the right questions and gave me helpful advice and explanations.

If you are considering several different brands of electronics and the decision comes down to who provides the best after sale service you cannot go wrong with Garmin.

Garmin's call center has evolved into a most helpful operation.
Staffed full time and seldom any lengthy hold to get someone.
And in addition to having access to different levels of inhouse technical support to try and get a problem solved...they also have most of the units right there for hands on operation.
Having the units at their finger tips is a big plus.

They also keep record of your call tied to your email address...and that helps if you contact them later..the record is on file so you do not have to start completely over etc.
I strongly suggest to use the call center vs sending them emails if you have any issues etc. ..or if you simply need info about any units.

And best of all the call center is also for anyone who just has questions about the product line.

I just recently had an issue with a 2 year old GHC control head and Garmin handled it with no issue and in record time. With a short conversation from me they determined the issue and sent me the part charging the standard repair price to my card and refunded the entire amount when they received the faulty part back from me. They ever covered the shipping both ways. With retailers like Gil and responsive product support from the factory via phone will forever keep me out of the brick an mortar stores.

Last winter I installed a rather extensive array of Garmin electrinics along with this bad guy.

http://www.airmartechnology.com/2009...asp?prodid=150

The airmar sensor created all kinds of problems in the network, that took countless hours of trouble shooting by Garmin, along with having the regional rep driving up on a number of occasions to troubleshoot, and to make sure that I was satisfied and happy with the system.

I didn't have to fight with them or nag them to have to make this happen either. They were honestly concerned about my satisfaction with their product.

I'm totally sold on Garmin and my local Garmin supplier( J and G marine) and the way they stood behing their product, even when a lot of the issues I was experiencing were caused by a non Garmin product.

This is my experience as well. I had always used e-mail Customer Support. It took 3 days and the "discussion" doesn't work as well as a live person. The call center answered very quickly & gave great support.

Would like to know if all this great customer service is because all of you have purchased what I would consider a small fortune worth of electronics, vs little peons like myself who struggle with a $500 one?

Garmin prides themselves on service and support and speaking from experience with a very inexpensive unit years ago where I needed help, I was treated very well and issue resolved very fast. They don't seem to care if you spend $10 or $10,000, they want you satisfied.
