Default transducer for garmin 7607 and 741xs

I recently removed my garmin 740s from a 22ft sailfish CC. I installed a 7607xsv and 741xs. in it's place. I'm going to network them together. I live in south florida and I mostly troll with the occasional reef fishing. most of the reefs are between 50ft and 300ft. any recommendations for a good transducer. (gt51?) I don't know if the thru hull would work with the VDS of the sailfish (24-22-24 deadrise) I would like to stick to a single transom mount if possible. (money is getting a bit tight) thanks in advance

Yes, the GT51-TM would work...I like that unit.

And Garmin has a new unit that will be out shortly to consider also..the GT52HW-Tm.

I guess I'll get the GT51. Gil would you recommend the garmin external antenna with these units. If so i'll just purchase both items from you.. thanks.

The internal antennas are good and should be fine..but you will have the overall best reception in all conditions with an external.

Here is a link to a current discussion about the antennas..

I think the GT51 will be the best overall ducer for what you describe, but the GT52 would definitely be better for trolling. You can actually use a thru-hull on your boat. It would be fine and would work best at all speeds. However, if you ever put the boat on a lift or trailer it then a thru-hull could be problematic.

So I would vote for the GT51 Transom Mount for you.

As for the internal antenna, it will be fine on your boat. No need to get the external antenna unless you find out later that you are dropping sats. We have never had this problem on a sailfish.
