Default Simrad/Robertson AP11 need help troubleshooting

I have an old AP 11 which has been flawless until now. I am trying to figure out what to look for. The AP compass corresponds to my Manual compass and GPS heading. I set the unit to auto com and the system seems to lock in fine. For example, I set Auto com at a heading of 80 degrees. As we move along, the heading on the control unit continues to show 80 degrees but the the boat will drift off on another heading as indicated by the manual compass and GPS. The AP will not hold the programmed course, but continues to indicate the original 80 degree course. Any thoughts are very much appreciated..

If the AP compass disagrees with the other two headings, it sounds like the AP compass is pooched.

Will the AP follow a GPS course?

In the auto mode, the AP11 only shows the heading you've punched in, not your live heading. Do you see it trying to correct? There are little arrows on the display that show the direction the j-box is commanding the pump to turn the boat. I'll bet your pump is not functioning.

Start by checking all of the wiring and connections for corrosion, take connections apart, and clean. Check to see how much motion there is from the auto pilot, how well is the motor running and turning the ram?
