Raymarine WiFi Apps
#1

I purchased a tablet to run side-by-side with my a78 mutli-function display. I bought this so that I could run charts on the a78, and radar on the tablet etc. (or any combination of different views like sonar vs engine data etc. After trying to use the tablet tonight - it seems that it simply only mirrors the a78 - and i'm not able to run a different output on the tablet. I can see how this would be useful for a flybridge - but for most other applications it's useless to have 2 screens displaying the same information. Am i doing something wrong - or did I assume too much?
This is what I experienced.
RayView app - just mirrors the a78 - touching the tablet screen you get no feedback.
RayControl app - same as above - but you have control over the a78/tablet. (still can't run 2 different views)
RayRemote app - didn't connect but i assume this wouldn't do what i'm looking for anyways.

What does it take to stream charts off shore, nothing RayMarine makes? I almost made a mistake thinking it was possible with the extremely limited information that is available. Thx another girl for your confirmation.

What exactly do you mean by "streaming charts" offshore? All current plotters require charts to be preloaded. Sorry for the confusion, I meant streaming to a tablet via RayMarine's "WIFish" I want to use the tablet to enjoy the larger display not for only the sonar, but for doing Navionics Chart prep work in the cabin while the "head unit" stays mounted at the helm. Seems a no brainer for us end users. However is there some sort of non-agreement w/ Navonics as to having a suto second user agreement?
Real time monitoring with GPS also using the larger tablet would be my priority over the sonar. Somewhere I thought I had read that w/ the tablet (App installed) one could have full functionality & control, but this was early on in my "shopping".
Thanks in advance for your expert answers.

Im not sure I fully understand what youre looking for. But multiple navigation apps can offer you real time monitoring with GPS, also without cell reception. Navionics can do that. Also, I'm currently using Embark boating charts, and that works really well for me.

I THINK the OP wanted to use the tablet as a 2nd networked MFD... For example, show the plotter on the MFD and show sonar or radar on the tablet... That would be neat but I doubt Raymarine will allow it at this time... They'd rather sell you 2nd MFD for that purpose...
Also, being able to control the vessel (say with auto pilot thrown into the mix) from the remote app one could have a lot of "fun" driving the person at the helm crazy but there are inherent dangers to being able to do so...

You run the plotter on the app and radar or sonar or engine data on the MFD... I would say that a 2nd MFD would be better if you can afford it...
