Default Sorry...another which transducer question

Garmin 7600xsv, here's what's important:

1. Discrimination of salmon (key!) and if possible, discrimination between clouds of krill vs. schools of anchovies, etc. For this, usually fishing in up to 200 feet of water, with salmon anywhere in the column, though 80% of the time in the upper 100 feet and often in the upper 40 feet.

2. Bottom fishing in up to 180 feet. Here I'd like to see clarity of structure most importantly, so good DownVu quality is what I'm looking for.

3. Tuna in upper 150 feet of water. This is the easy one, but mentioning anyway.

I know that it's usually advised to use the GT50 for up to 150 feet. But what about for that 150-180 foot window? GT50 or GT51?

Planning on only a pair of GT50 or GT51 through hulls. This will do it, correct?

Thanks!

GT50 should do ok in 150-180. The GT51 most likely a little better, but probably not night and day difference at that depth.

Yeah, sounds like that 150-200 range is a non-optimal zone for both? Thanks for replying.

Gil, others?

The GT50 is a 300 watt B150 style traditional CHIRP element element.

The GT51 has 600 watt B75 style element..about 20 times greater round trip sensitivity than the GT50 element.

For me.. I am inlined to opt for the GT51 due to its better 2D element if I were looking at salmon and tuna.

But....even if you go with the GT50..you are not going to miss any targets under 300'....I just like the B75 element.

^^^^ Good point.

Do you think DownVu bottom detail and definition will still be quite good for the GT51 at say, 100-180 feet?

Do you guys think adding a B175hw will make a significant difference in identifying (notoriously challenging) salmon, or will the GT5x suffice? If it will make a substantive difference, is hw the right one for say, top 150 feet of water?

I was going to say...but don't know your budget.
B175HW for trolling, identifying bait, etc for top water.
GT51 for bottom structure, side vu for bait schools (trolling).

Install pics please
