Garmin GPS antenna help

I have a used garmin 5212 that I recently bought. It came with a Garmin 17x antenna. The problem is that the cable end that should hook up to the Garmin backbone is too big. It's a 9 pin end on it. I can't figure out where to plug it into . The regular Nema 2000 drop cables ends are too small to attach to the 17x.

The 17x antenna outputs NMEA0183 data, so it can't be connected directly to an NMEA2000 network. You'll need to connect the 17x antenna using one of the 5212's NMEA0183 ports.

Does Garmin make a 0183 to 2000 converter?

If I recall, the 5212 does not have a nmea 183 port. It's only some network cables, video cables, power cable, and a network backbone cable.

According to the Garmin 4000/5000 series installation manual, your plotter should have rear connectors for network (3), video, power, NMEA 2K, and one labeled "NMEA". If your plotter has a 19-way "NMEA" connector, that's the NMEA0183 connector.

For connections to the 17x antenna, this came from the 4000/5000 installation manual:
Attachment 515007

The 5212 (and 4212 as well as the 72xx and 52xx) units DO have a nmea 0183 connector. It has a specific cable that ends in a lot of pigtails.

Garmin does sell a n2k antenna, but it isn't the 17x (note, there are a number of models of the 17, and they don't all have the same wiring colors).
