Will a VHF radio made for distribution in Europe work just the same as one purchase here?

Curious as I found VHF on ebay but its got a sku for EU versus the sates.

Thanks

yes and no - EU has some extra channels - and US have some extra channels. Not all versions will work across the pond for the local channels.

Simrad/Lowrance can only be set from Factory or Dealer to support the specific local channels. Other brands might have different options.

Denmark has L1/L2 " leisure boat channels" - which is only available on radios sold in Scandinavia... So much for travelling with VHF EVEN within the EU. US have special weather channels.

Simrad/Lowrance radios can be changed - but some dealers will change firmware to fit a country for a small fee - others will charge an arm and a leg....
