Default Installing LED lighting in my boat.

Please help,

I have not bought anything yet.

I am looking at the 5m flex strips that are waterproof and RGB.

Tell me if I have it wrong and help me navigate this before I buy something I don't need.

I have a couple of accessory switches on the dash that are spares.
They are on/off switches

Question
Can I install the LED strips and wire the negatives and then wire the positive to the accessory switch to send power to the light strip and then,,,,

Use the remote control gizmo to rotate thru the different colors?

Basically using the switch as a master power switch and then use the remote for the rest?

Here is the kit that I am looking at.

Yes. I went with the one without the color changing and just basic switch as a broken remote could be troublesome once installed.

Get strips that are in a casing. The strips that use a silicone will dry rot after a few months and reveal the circuit board and eventually go out.

i got the ones like yours above but without remote. I havent heard about the rot, but i havent tested it out on the water heavily. I know a lot of others use the ones i just referenced. Mine is NOT in direct sunlight so I don't see the silicone cracking. Even if it did, mine is under the gunnel so its a easy fix.

Thanks,

I bought 3 sets of them.

One for inside the center console and one for each side of the gunnel underneath so they won't be in direct sunlight and the boat is in indoor dry storage so maybe the rot will stay away for a couple of years.
