Default Transducer questions

I currently have 2 Raymarine C80 units with Radar, DSM300, and through hull transducer. I am looking to upgrade the display and I think that I have narrowed my search down to the Lowrance HDS12.

I am thinking that I might want to keep one C80 with the radar to minimize the current expense. I would then get the Lowrance radar when the toy fund gets rebuilt. If I do keep the C80, I was thinking it might be worthwhile keeping the sounder as the transducer is permanently installed.

There is an outdoors show here in a couple of weeks where I hope to go and play with them all to be sure but in the meantime I have a couple of question.

It appears that the transducers are system dependent so I would not be able to use the existing one with the HDS, is that true?

Will I be able to run the existing sounder plus one for the Lowrance at the same time if I use different frequencies or will they interfere with each other.

I will be fishing Lake Michigan typically in 80 - 150 ft of water, what would you recommend for Lowrance transducer?

Thanks in advance for any advice/opinions.

Yes you would be able to run the different freq on different machines. The HDS 12m and Sonar hub bundle is a great way to get 12 inches and Chirp very reasonably. A B150 would be where I recommend as a minimum

Thanks Brian,

That is the unit I am thinking, just need to actually play with it a little before I drop the cash. May look at going with transom mount vs through hull. Drilling a hole that big in the bottom of my boat intimidates me and there is no one near me that I know installs them.

Thru hills are common and reliable. Don't have concerns there. It is the best way to go!
