Default Lowrance HDS Help

I recently bought a new HDS10 gen2. I took my boat to the lake today (only the second time the boat has been out since the unit was installed) and when I returned home a fishing partner of mine starting taking the electronics out of the boat the HDS was accidentally dropped on the ground from a height of about 5 feet. I turned around just in time to see the unit in mid-air. To say I was instantly sick to my stomach was an understatement!! Anyway, I immediately plugged the unit back in and the upper left corner of the screen is black (about a 2"X2" square). You can even see a difference in color on the screen when it's not powered on.

So here's my question…Is this something that Lowrance can fix? I'm sure there's not much they can do for the current screen, but any idea if they can replace it? I know this unit was discontinued this season. I'm hoping lie heck there is something that can be done!

Thanks in advance.

It can be the cable between the board and the screen which is partially loose. If this is the case it can also be fixed by a local service technician (for consumer products) or a handy friend used to looking inside electronics products and computers.

Even if it's the screen itself Lowrance can fix it since they still have parts for this model.

Since the screen is discolored when off, it's not likely the cable. Call Lowrance support and see what can be done.

Stiletto as usual you read the posts more thoroughly than me and catch the details, I missed the problem is still present when the power is off. I agree with your advice.

I should put that in my signature as my claim to fame. Better reader than Abbor!
