Default Mfd Upgrade for bayrunner, max budget 1500$

desired budget would be less than $1000.. I'll be fishing off southern cali for (yellowtail, WSB, rockfish, bass), and inshore structure up to 250' mostly, kelp paddies, offshore(tuna, dorado as far as my bayrunner will take me), etc. One of my main concerns is differentiating target species vs bait vs clutter vs artifact etc which I feel my old a57 cannot do. I want to be able to see fish on the radar, drop a jig on them and know it was fish I saw on the graph.

First off I've been reading for hours through these forums. I mainly concerned with the sonar and not the chart, so I want to get my best bang for the buck. I've gathered chirp is the future, I like structure scan and would like to run that simultaneously with 2d chirp.

Now sub $1000 - would the Raymarine a78 fit my needs?

$1500 budget: I've been looking at the HDS 7 gen 3 and NSS7 evo2. which would be best?;?

As far as transducer when it comes to these I am completely clueless...I've gathered I'd need two ducers, one for structure scan and one for chirp 2d. I have an aluminum boat so I would have to get a transom mount ducer and would not run a thru hull correct? Which ducers would I want to run for my fishing needst?;?

Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate any input.

Go HDS Gen3, this unit will support both CHIRP, side and downscanning at the same time.

Very user friendly with both touch and buttons.

TM150M and LSS-2 transducer.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Say I didn't want to run structure scan simultaneously with 2d, is the HDS 7 gen 3 still the better choice?

Is the resolution better on the Nss7 evo2? I saw a youtube video and thought so... I need to see the evo2 in person. I saw the HDS 7 gen 3 today at Basspro and it didnt seem as clear as the simrad I saw in the video, too bad they dont carry simrad to compare side by side.
