New HDS 5 Gen2 warranty ?

Default New HDS 5 Gen2 warranty ?

I just bought a new HDS5 Gen2 from West Marine on the one day sale. Went to register it at Lowrance, It said the warranty is expired in 2014. The unit is new, supposed to have a 2 year warranty. I have not used the unit yet. Need the lake ice to melt. Since it is discontinued, so does it mean you don't get a warranty ? Thanks in advance for replies.

Call up tech support, they may ask for a copy of your receipt, and they will fix your warranty date issue.

You'll get a 2-year warranty, hopefully you bought the plus plan! If you didn't get the 2 yr plus plan it's cheap and then you won't have to go through Lowrance. That will give you a 4 year coverage against everything (except if you lose it, you have to have something to bring back ) if you have any problems with (even non warranty) you can just take it back to WM and exchange it for a new one or equivalent or even upgrade cheaply.

No, I was not offered the Plus Plan, didn't know about it. I wounder if I can still get.

you can still get it, when I bought my FF I didn't get the plus plan, they told me I had 30 days if I changed my mind, I think I may get it to

Still waiting here in Michigan too. Looking to upgrade this year to a new stand alone FF. Looking at the HDS5 Gen2 or the Elite 7x. Any initial thoughts knowing you haven't used it yet? Torn between what units to get.

Talked to Lowrance support, they said keep your receipt, warranty starts day of purchase. Thanks'

I'm just a greenhorn on electronics, This is my first combo unit, That's why I love the Hull Truth Forums, Also was able to purchase the Plus Plan on the retail price, not the sale price.

I work at west marine so I can tell you that the plus plan doesn't ever have a "sale price" itself. Now that being said you should've been charged for the plus plan that corresponds with the price you are actually paying for the unit, if you didn't then take your receipt to the manager and have them charge you for the correct plan. If they can't help you call me at my store and I'll take care of it for you.
Eventhough your a "greenhorn on electronics" you got an extremely capable full function MFD, that will be easy to learn and expand on the future. I just sold one to my buddy and he's only ever had a Lowrance x4 depth finder so he lives this thing, is like a whole new world of boating had been opened to him. Send me a PM of you need more help with the WM thing
